I went to college at Concordia in Ann Arbor, Mi. and in Seward, Ne. I was an elementary teacher in Christian schools in Elkhart, In., Rochester, Mi., Fairplain, and Grand Rapids, Mi. I did some graduate studies at IUSB and later at Oakland University in guidance & counseling when I worked with blind adults at Leader Dogs for the Blind, in Rochester, Mi., where I was housemother in the dormitory for 8 years. In 1991, I moved back to St. Joe to be near my sisters & other family members. I worked with the elderly and in retail until retiring 3+ years ago. I continue visiting elders (some mothers of classmates at Trinity), volunteering at the Whitcomb,& I enjoy concerts, crafts, & local history programs.

School Story

Mr. Dennis Bowen, our choir director in high school, leads a hymn-sing/ stand-up comedy act twice a month at the Whitcomb Retirement Home in St. Joe. Mrs. Miriam Pede has been very active at the Morton House museum in Benton Harbor over the years. I took 3 years of Latin in high school, just so I could watch Miss Robb act out the stories we translated. We were blessed with many excellent teachers.

Jim Perin attended Trinity K-8, SJJH, & SJHS. He had polio as a young child, but it didn't hold him down. He was very personable and creative, even broadcasting a current events news program over the PA in 8th grade. Jim played the piano and did some gigs on Mackinaw Island. He always had a positive attitude, a good sense of humor, and a strong faith in God. He was a founding member of Peace Lutheran Church, now on Lincoln Ave.in south St. Joe.

Kathy was a good friend from Kdg. @ Trinity & SJHS. She played basketball and even coached for a year. Her greatest talent was in music. She played the piano and she sang in The Chosen Few at LMCollege. She lived in Bridgman, Mi. and worked @ Skip's in south county until her passing in 1988. I am sure her tallents will be put to good use in Heaven!
